Classes and Workshops

Classes and workshops will be added monthly with a variety of crafts, media and objectives. Descriptions for each are below.

Beginner Sewing Workshop

Beginner sewing workshop will teach you all-out your new sewing machine. From what all those plastic feet are, to threading of your own home machine, to basics of tools and sewing techniques.  We will go over various types of scissors, and cutting devices including rotary blades and mechanical rotary saws, and ultimately practice cutting, pinning and sewing straight lines, curves, corners and stitched corners. 

This is the perfect class for anyone wanting to learn sewing from the bottom up, or whose taken a few years off and would like a refresher.  Bought a sewing machine and never

opened it up?  We got you!

 

*This class is limited to 4 people so we may all have our questions and

concern addressed.

Beginner Upholstery Workshop

Beginner upholstery workshop is designed for anyone who's been curious about refurbishing furniture. In this workshop we will go over various upholstery tools and how to use them, various material and supplies used daily in upholstery shops, talk about the types of sewing machines used before diving into our first project.

Each student is to bring their own piece of furniture approved in advance. This is a perfect opportunity for a road side find, a cheap Facebook market place purchase, or to up cycle something you currently own. Think simple dining chair, small ottoman, or a bar stool.

Supplies like dacron, staples, staple guns, staple removers, marking tools, measuring tools will be provided. Foam and fabric not included but an opportunity to purchase materials at the workshop is and option.

Class limited to 4 students so each may have the opportunity to address questions and get individualized help.

Beginner Sewing Machine Basics

Beginner Sewing Machine Basics is the perfect class for anyone who has inherited a sewing machine or who has stepped away from their machine and needs a refresher. We will go over machine terminology, bobbin winding, types of sewing attachments, types of thread and needles and getting acquainted with your machine.  This class is bring your own machine and limited to 8 students per class.

Classes duration: 2 hours

 Cost: $65 per person

Sewing Tools Setup

Beginner Sewing- Pillow Making

Beginner Sewing- Pillow Making is a 3 hour class where we will make a pillow pattern, cut pillow fabrics, install zippers and sew a full pillow. We will go over how to make a pillow pattern. HINT they aren't just squares! from that pattern we will discuss pattern matching as well as centering patterns, how many yards per pillow you will need, different types of zipper and envelope closures, as well as some creative ideas for envelope closures and sewing tips and techniques when using thin or thick fabrics. 


What we supply:  Fabrics, zippers included

What you supply: Home Sewing Machine, Pillow form. We recommend pillow forms 2" larger than the finish size. IE.  20" pillow get a 22" pillow form.

Limited to 6 students per class

Colorful Beaded Patterns

Beaded Earring Workshop

In this workshop we will dive into the art of bead weaving using Brick and Ladder Stitching, as well as making beaded fringe to learn the process of making beaded earrings. while these earrings take hours and hours to make, well be teaching the stitches and processes used to make your own, by learning with hands on instruction. Materials will be provided and references will be given to take home for future practice and creation. We guide our way through the various stitches used in creating beaded earrings. Materials provided, patience preferred as we weave through the sometimes tedious process of bead weaving.

Workshop Duration: 3 hours
